Ahora Barnes se encarga de liderar el equipo de seguridad de la senadora Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell). Su misión es protegerla, ya que la senadora es candidata a la próxima elección presidencial, y su principal baza política es la de terminar con La Purga anual, un ritual en el que durante doce horas cualquier actividad criminal, incluso el asesinato, es legal, y que en opinión de Roan perjudica sobre todo a los necesitados y a los inocentes.
